I just set up my bbhn node yesterday and today when I tried to enter my username and password, it wouldn't let me in. I used "root" for my username because I didn't see anywhere to set another username. Did I do it right? If not, what should I enter in the username blank.

Topic : New Facebook group and FAQ server

As we continue to grow, we´ve formed a small team opted to handle the BBHN / AMPRnet system in SM7 area. We are now moving more and more towards using the outstanding mesh functions of BBHN as a carrier for AMPRnet.

We´ve also started a Facebook group for hamradio operators primarily for SM7, but in no way limited to that. Everyone interested or curious about this are welcome to join.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1674032772870962/

We´ve also started our FAQ server for those interested in how to startup and join the community (this is in swedish, but online translators will do the job fine). In the filearea you´ll find our Runbook for download, which is currently version 1.0, which is a living documentation and will be updated on a regular basis.

Topic : Outside access to MESH via the internet

I am working on something similar but dedicated to security of my home and property.  I am rural and putting up cameras to monitor the area.  My friend was able to access my cameras via the internet using IP tunneling.  I have both a tunnel server and client.  I hope to use the client node when on the road.  Only issue I currently have is most places only offer wifi access to the net and the mesh needs a hard line.  Trying to figure out how to connect to the wifi and present an ethernet cable to the node.

I am sure this has been discussed to no end on other threads, but am not finding the answers/directions that I am looking for to my quandary. Maybe someone can direct me to the answers/processes to achieve the following scenario.

I am trying to "sell" our county EOC director on MESH technology and HAM radio in general (no money exchanged, just trying to get them to use our offered services). We have shown him how we have established a MESH network with both IP phones and IP cameras. We have demonstrated the application of having this available at an "incident" where a location can be monitored remotely. I have his interest piqued, but he has posed the following question: Can someone from the State EOC access the cameras to see what we are seeing?

My question/quandary: how would someone outside of the MESH gain access to information on the MESH (cameras, webpages, etc.) if your MESH had a connection to the internet? I know you can get out through the MESH to the internet through that connection, but how would someone get in? Would be a great "selling" point for the county EOC director if I could provide him with this resource.

Ok, I'm a complete and utter numbskull.. Idiot.. I'll take it all.. I found the problem.. Operator Malfunction 0X0010 : Fat Fingers on keyboard.. When I renamed the SIPmacaddress.cnf file, I fudged the mac address.. Once I realized that, and fixed it Phone 1 loaded flawlessly.

Correct, I used WinSCP just like you did in the video. The directory existed, I just put the proper files there and then created the named copies needed for the phones (Haven't tried phone #2 yet as it has a different set of issues.)

I do understand how frustrating it can be. I'm looking into possible solutions for you. From doing a quick google search for "cisco 7940 copying to bank 1", it seems like there are others with the same problem. Maybe one of their solutions could help us solve the problem. From the looks of it, it seems like the phone isn't taking the load. Files are in /tftpboot/ directory and you did not create that folder (pre-existed), right?

Unable to use cut and paste on an IBad  ... It killing me...

Thanks for your comments Darryl.

Jim I echo Derryl comments.

the user interface seems to be users dumb down to two clicks.  I accept your concerns for Joomla security.

It seems to be a user permission issue based on what you've said/added in your comments Jim.

Also your "ticker" in the heading disables any function on an iPad for cut and paste. (Sad)

your loyal user.

thanks

Well, that didn't fix it... I'll let the phone sit here and cycle for a while and see what happens..

Without ":" and all uppercase. So it would become something like SIP00112233FFDDEE.cnf. That's for Cisco Phones. Polycom is the same way but all lowercase for the macaddress. If this still fails, let me know and we'll try some other things out.

I followed the videos verbatim. Used the files provided. Phone and Pi pbx are connected to the same node. Didn't want to try remote until I got one working locally. The one question I have is this. In the SIPmacaddress.cnf file name. Do we use the mac address with or without the : ?
