AMPRnet routing
Was a while ago I wrote here, but I need to work sometimes as well :) Well, now we have finished the first writeup on how to route AMPRnet subnets, or single IPs, using BBHN / HSMM as the carrier. As you all know, we´re using my lightweight Vtund implementation on the WRTs (including, but not exclusively, the 54GL) to connect remote nodes. In order for AMPRnet routing to work, we configured a new VLAN on the WRT and assigned one of the switchports for that VLAN. After this we run IProute2 package for the Policybased routing features that ensures that all AMPRnet specific sources always are tunneled through the Vtund and tun0 interface towards the central point. Also some iptables work needs to be done, the OSLR needs to broadcast the AMPRnet subnet, or single IP, using HNA4 and finally, for some costmetic value, we´ve added a AMPRnet IP infoblock on the statuspage. Works great :) |

As for the Remote PBX, you might have to forward a couple ports (I'm trying to remember my setup from 2014), or the ports are encapsulated in the packets going to and from the tunnel server (this seems like the correct answer). In the latter case, nothing special needs to be done. Just make sure the phone and PBX server are setup on the X Host DMZ. |

Well, then that makes me wonder, since my phone has 2 "lines" could I set one up on my PBX and one to a remote? I've ordered an older Pi to set up as a local PBX.. Just trying to get ideas on how this all might work...
What would need to be done on my local node (N9MXQ-GATE) to allow the phone to connect to the remote PBX? |

You can do either. I've done and hosted both (local and remote) without problems. |

New to IP phones and have a question...
Hi Gang,
I'm starting to poke around in the IP phone world and have purchased a Cisco 7940 SIP phone. My question is this, do I have to have a local PBX or can I contact the ops of an existing PBX I see on my MESH status page (via tunnels) and use theirs with their permission? Any info would be appreciated..
Thanks! Gene N9MXQ |

Golden Horseshoe Network
Over New Years and into early January 2016 we had communications with the group in Niagara (VE3XNC - Brad ) . We now have a very successful 65km link between ve3mis/r mesh site and ve3plf/r in fonthill. We currently have (at last nights count) 32 nodes on the Golden Horseshoe Mesh. This is extremely exciting and we look forward to bringing Oakville back online and also look forward to expanding into Burlington, Hamilton, and Georgetown. Hopefully Toronto will come onboard as well. 73, bob |

Boston area public service event
There is a fairly sizeable event coming up in the fall of 2016 in the Boston area. I have been asked to help coordinate Ham support and a HSMM-Mesh (BBHN) would be an ideal adder to the event. Looking for people knowledgeable in BBHN and IP Cameras in the Boston (North) area to assist. I'm new at BBHN. Please contact me at [ KB1ZOA at gmail dot com ] if interested. Thanks -Mike

Outside access to MESH via the internet
I am sure this has been discussed to no end on other threads, but am not finding the answers/directions that I am looking for to my quandary. Maybe someone can direct me to the answers/processes to achieve the following scenario. I am trying to "sell" our county EOC director on MESH technology and HAM radio in general (no money exchanged, just trying to get them to use our offered services). We have shown him how we have established a MESH network with both IP phones and IP cameras. We have demonstrated the application of having this available at an "incident" where a location can be monitored remotely. I have his interest piqued, but he has posed the following question: Can someone from the State EOC access the cameras to see what we are seeing? My question/quandary: how would someone outside of the MESH gain access to information on the MESH (cameras, webpages, etc.) if your MESH had a connection to the internet? I know you can get out through the MESH to the internet through that connection, but how would someone get in? Would be a great "selling" point for the county EOC director if I could provide him with this resource.
